26-hour Event Benefits Fight Against Breast Cancer - July 23, 2005 CAMBRIDGE (MAY 17, 2005) – The Shore Supporters present Shelley Abbott’s “Sing & Dance A-Thon for Breast Cancer” at the Governor’s Hall at Sailwinds Park in Cambridge, Md. The event will begin at 7am on Saturday, July 23 and conclude at 9am on Sunday, July 24. "Participants can sign up for one of the time slots for a karaoke or a dance activity," says Shelley Abbott, organizer of the event. "This event will allow participants the opportunity to perform in a number of musical or dance activities while raising money for a good cause." Activities will include various auctions, dance and karaoke contests, karaoke performances, band and choir performances, a sock hop, big band hour, games as well as many informational displays regarding breast cancer and women’s health care. Other relative programs are scheduled throughout the 26 hour event. The Sing & Dance A-Thon participants pay a registration fee of $20 per person. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation (Komen Maryland) and Evergreen Cove of Easton, Maryland. The Shore Supporters is a volunteer committee dedicated to the mission of eradicating breast cancer as a life-threatening disease by raising money for advancing research, education, screening and treatment. The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation was founded in 1982 by Nancy Brinker to honor the memory of her sister, Susan G. Komen, who died of breast cancer at the age of 36. Over twenty years later, The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation is credited as the nation’s leading catalyst in the fight against breast cancer. The Komen Foundation is a trusted source of breast health and breast cancer information for people all over the world and is instrumental in connecting people with resources they need in their fight against breast cancer. Evergreen is an open-minded community providing many pathways for people to create well-being in their lives.
